rather funny looking lamp post along the walls of Philadelphia's
City Hall. It's a weird design, doesn't seem to fit in place all that well.
you seen a Mel Brooks film lately? I just finished watching
for the sixth time!! It is such a funny movie! I always believe that making
good comedies is tough. But making spoofs is much more difficult. And if
there is any person who has contributed to the maturing of the spoof genre,
it Mr. Brooks. He is immensely talented and has a real eye for detail. He can take
ten different mundane aspects of life, thoroughly spoof them up, and then tie
them neatly in a story that makes complete sense. And then do it all over
again ... like ten times.
have seen almost all of his movies. But my personal favourite is The History
of the World - Part I. The mockery begins right in the title itself, for,
there neither is, nor will be, a "Part II". Just consider this
scene in Emperor Nero's palace (... the Caesar's Palace).
Bring me a small lyre.
Officer: A small liar, small liar
Liar: I didn't do it! I didn't do it! I wasn't even there! I was at a
friend's house! The check is in the mail!
Emperor: Not that kind of liar! Take him out!
this isn't even the best joke. Give Brooks a try, he is addictive.
