PARALLELS - May 05, 2003

Lines can do a whole lot to improve your photograph. They are essential tools when it comes to getting the composition, just right. When used effectively, lines can add action or life in still photography.

Lines can lead a viewer's attention to the primary subject of your composition. Lines can enhance the effect of depth, in your photographs. They can divide the photograph, or bring out the symmetry in you frame. Vertical lines give a sense of strength and power. Horizontal lines suggest tranquility and peace. Diagonal lines give a sense of action or dynamism. Besides bringing harmony to your composition, lines can prove to be very interesting subjects themselves.

Having said that, I have absolutely no clue what effect those lines have on my picture.
