CHARLEY IS HERE - AUG 13, 2004

Update: 22:11 hrs. The worst seems to be over. Charley has moved northeast. The screen outside my bedroom window was ripped off and blown away. Other than that, there were no immediate damage. The power is on and will hopefully stay that way.

Update: 21:13 hrs. The winds outside have accelerated to 90mph plus. The windows in my apartment are rattling like hell. Amazingly, and thank god for that, I still have power. I hope things stay that way and don't get any worse.

Update: 20:22 hrs. It is here. I can hear the howling winds outside my window. I hope I get past these next few hours without any power outages. The storm should cross the Orlando area by 10pm.

Update: 17:52 hrs. Charley has changed course. Charley is headed straight towards Orlando. Wind speeds of up to 90mph expected in downtown Orlando by 9 pm. It is raining outside, but the weather people seem to believe that the worst is yet to come. Power and water are still on.

Its Friday, the 13th and Charley is headed our way. Not Jason, not Freddy, but Charley! Charley is a grade 3 hurricane headed straight into Florida and is expected to cross just north of the Central Florida area. It is lurking around 50 Miles to the west of The Keys, right this moment. And should be home by late afternoon.

I took my friends' advice and prepared for the hurricane emergency. Got my bottled water, canned food, flashlights and batteries. I will be filling the bathtub with water later in the day. That should prepare me for any power or water supply disruption. It was an amazing sight at the department store last night. Every bottle of water, every flashlight, and every battery pack was taken! People were hoarding on canned fruits and pre-cooked vegetables. Even. I didn't get any!! I suppose everybody is better prepared as Noah was for his big one!

Clicked this picture on a much calmer day in Melbourne, Fl. Seems to fit, Photo Friday's theme of the week, Tranquility! I am sure things today, are quite different there too.
