The WEDDING HALL - Iyer weddings, like most other weddings, take place in the bride's hometown. Nowadays weddings are held in large wedding halls that are specifically designed for this purpose. These halls include limited, separate quarters for the bride's and groom's parties. A typical hall can accommodate several hundreds of guests and can even serve meals to hundreds of guests in one sitting.

Inside the wedding hall is a dais, called the mandapam where most of the wedding rituals and ceremonies take place.

The groom's party travels to the bride's home town and arrives at the wedding hall on the day before the wedding.
